While everyones freaking out over the season 3 finale shenanigans, here's me still obsessing over the whole Luna/Nightmare Moon/Celestia dynamic. And just to put my opinion on the whole finale thing? I couldn't be happier. Just saying.
Hmm, what is this? Luna looks a little diffwerent than from what I usually draw her... Nightmare Moon and Celestia without crowns/armour...? Hmmm... I wonder if this could have a stoooorrrryyyy to it. maybe one that I would eventually illustrate? Maybe, just maybe. At any rate this sketch got really out of hand, shading a moon is terrible but other than that it was so much fun. Nightmare Moon is still the sexiest thing on four legs, juuust saying.
Hope you guys like it, I will do my best to get more colour pics.... Someday...
I like how spiffy your colored works are, but I also think your sketched-out works like this look superb enough to be finished works themselves. The subtle pencil shades here blend very well into the pencil outlines, much better than if this were to be inked in solid black lines.
The poses and expressions are also very well chosen and convey each character's personality and thoughts very well. The shading on the moon is especially well done, you can really make out the individual craters and surface imperfections to a degree that it looks like a real satellite photo. Perhaps some more shading could bring out some more detail in the gemstone at the bottom? Other than that the detail work is outstanding.
I think the thing that really stands out for me, and possibly what I like the best about your work, is the way you incorporate realistic muscle tones to make the characters less cartoonish and more semirealistic...at least to me. Especially Woona at the top there, who seems quite well-toned
Overall a superb piece of work. Whether or not you decide to color it, I think it looks like a job very well done.
This is beautiful pencil work. Seriously, oh my god. My only problem with this piece is how defined their neck muscles are. That wouldn't be a problem for regular horses, but it looks a little weird on the Princesses.
